About Behaviorism by B. F. Skinner

My friend studied Psychology for a couple of years and this is one of her utmost favorite books. So I decided to pick it up (to finally discover why she loved it so much) and was delightfully surprised—Behaviorism has so much in common with B2B marketing, especially when it comes to psychographics and buyer intent!

The chapter on language is particularly interesting, as Skinner goes deep in his analysis of meaning, abstractions, and sentence building.

So, if you want to dig deeper into the thinking of the man behind the “rat test” (formally known as Operant Conditioning), then I recommend this book—especially if you want science to back up your psychographic and behavioral marketing campaigns.

Fun books

20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill

20th Century Ghosts is the perfect collection of short stories for the summer season. While the title suggests horror, it’s really 50/50 and you certainly get your money’s worth in character development, story, and yes, horror.

But that all comes to you when and where you least expect it in this stack of wonderful tales. Additionally, for the horror movie fanatic, one story in the set is “The Black Phone,” which recently became a feature film gaining rave reviews. I can’t recommend this enough.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Cleverly written, this book feels like you are playing a video game and is packed with 80s nostalgia. It’s a “David vs. Goliath story”, with the characters of a future metaverse fighting against an evil corporation to make the world a better place.

If you’re up for an 80s trip down memory lane and love gaming, then Ready Player One might be just the read you’re looking for!
