August 9th is National Book Lovers Day and to celebrate, we asked our team about their favorite tomes this year.

We have split the list below into “Business” and “Fun” categories, so you can peruse at your leisure and, hopefully, add some of INFUSE’s reading to your personal library:

Business books

No Forms. No Spam. No Cold Calls. by Latane Conant
Recommended by Victoria Albert – VP of Marketing

A great book for any marketing or sales professional wanting to redefine themselves and get their organizations ready for the next evolution of selling and marketing.

My favorite lessons: 1) Meet your clients where they are; 2) If you’re working on sales-marketing alignment, you’re already broken; 3) Redefine the role of marketing as “MARKET” (it’s about your clients, not marketing to them), and 4) Tech only works insomuch as you have great people to lead the way.

Tech Powered Sales by Justin Michael
Recommended by Stephen Pretorius – BDR Team Lead

A truly gripping read for anyone dabbling in sales—I couldn’t put it down. Embracing the changes in tech and sales and combining them to put you on the leading edge of innovation, is truly what is essential TODAY.

The pace is lively and fast and full of things you can do immediately. It’s a timely and invaluable resource for companies of all sizes on leveraging technology to grow pipeline.

About Behaviorism by B. F. Skinner
Recommended by Vinicius Scott – Senior Content Specialist

My friend studied Psychology for a couple of years and this is one of her utmost favorite books. So I decided to pick it up (to finally discover why she loved it so much) and was delightfully surprised—Behaviorism has so much in common with B2B marketing, especially when it comes to psychographics and buyer intent!

The chapter on language is particularly interesting, as Skinner goes deep in his analysis of meaning, abstractions, and sentence building.

So, if you want to dig deeper into the thinking of the man behind the “rat test” (formally known as Operant Conditioning), then I recommend this book—especially if you want science to back up your psychographic and behavioral marketing campaigns.

Fun books

20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill
Recommended By Wes Morris – Marketing Coordinator

20th Century Ghosts is the perfect collection of short stories for the summer season. While the title suggests horror, it’s really 50/50 and you certainly get your money’s worth in character development, story, and yes, horror.

But that all comes to you when and where you least expect it in this stack of wonderful tales. Additionally, for the horror movie fanatic, one story in the set is “The Black Phone,” which recently became a feature film gaining rave reviews. I can’t recommend this enough.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
Recommended by Justin Lubomirsky – Senior SEO Manager

Cleverly written, this book feels like you are playing a video game and is packed with 80s nostalgia. It’s a “David vs. Goliath story”, with the characters of a future metaverse fighting against an evil corporation to make the world a better place.

If you’re up for an 80s trip down memory lane and love gaming, then Ready Player One might be just the read you’re looking for!

Happy reading!
